We’ve all taken those personality tests. Myers-Briggs. “Which Disney princess are you?” The internet loves to sort us into boxes.

There’s one I like that’s simpler: the four elements. Fire. Earth. Water. Air. Most of us lean toward one, but we carry bits of the others.

Fire moves fast. Makes decisions on instinct. Gets things done now and fixes the details later. Think of a wildfire clearing space for new growth. Fire burns hot—passionate, driven, sometimes overwhelming. Turn down the flame, though, and you get warmth that feels like home.

Earth moves slow. They love systems, spreadsheets, step-by-step plans. You plant a seed with them and wait through seasons to see the payoff. They’re reliable, steady, sometimes a little too rooted, but they’re the ones who hold the ground under the rest of us.

Water dives deep. They research, explore, ask why. They flow around obstacles but can make waves when pushed. What they hate most is deciding—there’s always one more thing to explore.

Air talks. They think by talking. They jump from one idea to the next like a breeze through an open window. Give them focus and they’re persuasive and brilliant. Leave them unchecked and they whirl into a mess of scattered thoughts.
