San Onofre State Beach Police Giving Tickets
A popular unofficial nude beach in California has been permanently shut down, leaving nudists befuddled, having to go to San Diego for an overall tan.
South of San Clemente, CA is San Onofre State Beach which used to be a nude beach until nudity was banned by the state in 2009. So nudists just walked further south and crossed onto the beach which is part of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. It was generally accepted as a place for nudists to hang in the sun, although periodically Marine police would drive along the beach chasing folks off the property.
The big change now is in late September the Marines erected barbed wire fencing at the border of the state beach along with signs indicating violators would be ticketed with no warnings. Then on October 4th, eight Marine Corps police officers were seen adding more barbed wire to the barrier making the closure very clear to anyone seeking to trespass onto the military installation. Also, minutes earlier, California State Park police ticketed a nude sunbather who was less than 50 feet from the southern edge of San Onofre Beach.
Nudists wanting beach time in southern California will now need to go to world-renowned Black’s Beach where it is still legal to be nude.
