Sometimes I'm an Ass
What is actually happening when you get a random email from me that looks like a news post
Every now and then, one of you writes back and says, “Umm… was that supposed to be an email?” And the honest answer is… probably not. Let me pull back the curtain for a second.
When I finish a story on my platform, I get three shiny little buttons. I can publish it quietly to the blog, which is what most of the magazine-style pieces are meant to do. I can send it as an email only, which is how you get those friendly nudges telling you the latest issue is live. Or, on rare occasions, I can hit publish and email at the same time. That third option is powerful. It is also dangerously close to the other two.
So when you get what feels like a rogue article landing directly in your inbox, nine times out of ten it means I clicked the wrong button before closing things out. Not a marketing strategy. Not a secret funnel. Just me, moving fast, probably caffeinated, definitely human.
Thanks for rolling with it. If you ever get an “oops” email, just know it was meant with good intentions… and maybe slightly clumsy fingers.
