Apple’s New 2026 Lineup: The Biggest Features You Need to Know
Apple didn’t just update its products this year—it changed the conversation.
From an Apple Watch that pays closer attention to your health, to smarter AirPods, more powerful iPhone cameras, and Apple’s first-ever foldable iPhone, the 2026 lineup includes some of the company’s most interesting upgrades in years.
And while faster processors and better specifications are nice, those aren’t the features most people will notice. What matters is what these devices can actually do for you every day.
The biggest themes this year are health, artificial intelligence, longer battery life, better cameras, and entirely new ways to use an iPhone.
Here are the biggest features you need to know.
Apple Watch Series 12: Health Takes Center Stage
The Apple Watch Series 12 focuses heavily on health. Its new Health Sensing System, powered by the S11 processor, can measure heart rate every five seconds and take HRV readings more frequently than previous models.
Apple is also introducing a Readiness score from 0 to 10 that considers activity, sleep, training load, and vital signs to help show how prepared your body is for the day.
Another new feature, Health Age, compares long-term health measurements with what would typically be expected for your actual age.
Apple is also adding Live Rewind, which can display the previous 15 seconds of a conversation as text, along with Siri Recap, which can summarize a conversation afterward. I do wish Apple had brought these features directly to the iPhone as well.
Battery life remains up to 24 hours, while outdoor workouts can last up to 10 hours. A 15-minute charge can provide up to 12 additional hours of use.
Overall, Series 12 feels like a meaningful health-and-intelligence upgrade.
Apple Watch Ultra 4: Built for Longer Adventures
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 includes many of the same health and AI features as Series 12, but its biggest advantage is battery life.
It can last up to 50 hours during normal use and as much as 84 hours in Low Power Mode. New Extended Workout modes can track outdoor activities for up to 45 hours while continuing to record GPS every second.
A 15-minute charge can also provide about 18 additional hours of battery life.
I’ve owned the last two Apple Watch Ultra models, but this year I’m trying the Series 12 instead. I love the Ultra’s durability and battery life, but I’m not sure those advantages are worth several hundred dollars more.

AirPods 5: More Pro Features
The new AirPods 5 bring several premium features to Apple’s standard open-ear design.
Active Noise Cancellation can remove up to 50 percent more outside noise than AirPods 4 with ANC. Adaptive Audio automatically balances Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode, while Conversation Awareness lowers your music when you begin speaking.
They also include improved sound, Personalized Spatial Audio, Siri AI, Live Translation, and IP57 dust and water resistance.
There are two versions. The $129 model includes a USB-C case, while the $149 version adds wireless charging, longer battery life, and volume controls directly on the AirPods stem.
I wish Apple had simply released one model because the two versions could easily confuse buyers.
iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max: Better Cameras and AI
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max focus on photography, performance, battery life, and artificial intelligence.
The biggest camera upgrade is a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, giving users more control over light and depth of field. New Pro controls also allow manual adjustment of aperture, shutter speed, and white balance.
Apple is also introducing Apple Reference Image, which can provide an authenticated reference showing what the camera sensor originally captured—potentially useful as AI-generated and altered images become harder to identify.
Inside is the new A20 Pro processor, built on a 2-nanometer process, along with a faster GPU, upgraded Neural Engine, and improved vapor-chamber cooling.
Battery life reaches up to 36 hours of video playback on the Pro and 45 hours on the Pro Max.
Siri AI can also understand information from messages, email, photos, and what is currently displayed on your screen.
For photographers, creators, gamers, and power users, this is a major upgrade. But if you already have an iPhone 16 or newer and are happy with it, I would probably wait. Next year marks the iPhone’s 20th anniversary, and Apple is rumored to be planning a major redesign.
iPhone Duo: Apple’s First Foldable iPhone
The most exciting announcement may be the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable phone—and personally, this is the device I’m most excited about.
Closed, it has a 5.4-inch outer display. Opened, it expands to a 7.6-inch inner display, giving you much more space for videos, websites, games, and productivity.
The larger screen also introduces true multitasking. You can place two apps side by side, open multiple windows, save app combinations, and interact with Siri while keeping another application visible.
The second display also creates some clever camera features. You can take selfies using the higher-quality rear cameras while seeing yourself on the outer screen, and Duo Preview lets the person being photographed see how the shot is framed.
The camera system includes 48MP Main and Ultra Wide cameras, 2x telephoto, Center Stage, and 4K Dolby Vision video up to 120 fps.
It also uses the A20 Pro processor and will support the Apple Pencil USB-C, making the unfolded Duo feel almost like a pocket-size iPad.

A Bigger Upgrade Year Than Usual
Apple’s 2026 lineup is about more than faster processors.
Series 12 focuses on health, Ultra 4 adds significantly better battery life, AirPods 5 bring more premium features to a lower price point, and the iPhone 18 Pro gives photographers and power users more control.
But the iPhone Duo is the product to watch most closely. It represents one of Apple’s biggest changes to the iPhone’s physical design and could change how people use an iPhone for multitasking and productivity.
