They Let Me Do My Thing
It’s Saturday night. We wrapped a spectacular week in Puerto Vallarta. New friends. New experiences.
I never made it into the pool. I never floated with a drink, solving life over cocktails. Behind the scenes stayed busy. My role stayed simple. Keep the wheels on the bus.
The guests gave me space. No one pulled me away. No one added pressure. The backstage work got handled. The guests had an incredible week.
This mirrors how I run the magazine. I do not chase the spotlight. My guests shine. They sparkle. I stay offstage with a clipboard, making sure everything runs. That place feels right.
Leadership does not always look glamorous. Sometimes leadership looks like stepping back so others shine. When the room feels effortless, someone worked hard behind the curtain. I am good with that. That is where I do my best work.
So, if you're taking care of an elderly parent, or helping a student get better graders, or doing any sort of job where you are the supporting cast, I see you. This week, I hope you have a moment where you realize your quiet role still matters.
