I’m taking a group to Europe’s Christmas markets aboard a luxury river ship, December 1–7, 2027.

We’ll sail from Nuremberg to Vienna, visiting Regensburg, Passau, Melk Abbey, and Vienna along the way.

That’s precisely why we’re doing it by river.

You’ll unpack once aboard the Avalon Impression, settle into your cabin, and let the Danube handle the transportation. Instead of packing, checking out, catching trains, and dragging your luggage through five different cities, you’ll wake up somewhere new each morning.

Europe without the logistical gymnastics. Isn’t that civilized?

“Why go in December? Won’t it be cold?”

Yes, it will be chilly. That’s part of the magic.

This is Europe dressed for Christmas: illuminated town squares, decorated medieval streets, wooden market stalls, roasted chestnuts, handmade gifts, and hot mugs of mulled wine.

Bring a warm coat, comfortable shoes, and perhaps one dramatic scarf. We’re not going to Europe in December to avoid winter. We’re going because Europe knows how to make winter gorgeous.

“I’ve never taken a river cruise. Is it anything like a large ocean cruise?”

Not really—and that’s one of its greatest appeals.

There are no thousands of passengers, cavernous terminals, or long lines to get on and off the ship. River cruising is smaller, calmer, and much more connected to the destinations. (160 passengers MAX on this trip!)

The Avalon Impression carries you directly into the heart of Europe, often docking close to the towns and cities you came to see.

This trip is about the destination—not waterslides, casinos, and fighting 4,000 strangers for a deck chair.

“Will I get bored on the ship?”

Not unless you’re deeply committed to being bored.

The ship is your elegant floating home, but the real entertainment is outside your panoramic window. Days are filled with excursions, historic towns, Christmas markets, cafés, cathedrals, shops, and scenery along the Danube.

Back onboard, there are four-course dinners, regional menus, complimentary wine and beer with lunch and dinner, and Happy Hour every evening.

“What kind of ship are we talking about?”

The Avalon Impression is a 443-foot luxury suite ship with a crew of approximately 47.

Most of our travelers will stay in Avalon’s signature Panorama Suites, featuring floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows designed so you can enjoy the view without leaving your bed.

You’ll also have open-seating dining, four-course dinners, regional cuisine, complimentary wine and beer with lunch and dinner, Starlink Wi-Fi, and nightly Happy Hour.

“Do I need to splurge on a suite?”

No. You can choose the cabin category that works for your budget.

The Panorama Suite is our most popular option because of its additional space and spectacular wall of glass.

“That price sounds good—but what will be added later?”

The price already includes the expensive things that can turn an attractive vacation into a financial ambush.

Your cruise includes:

• Port charges
• Taxes

No surprise bill for gratuities at the end. No mysterious port charges appearing later.

You’ll still want money for airfare, personal purchases, optional experiences, and however many Christmas ornaments you convince yourself will fit into your suitcase.

“Do I have to pay the entire amount now?”

Absolutely not.

A $500 deposit holds your reservation, and that money is applied directly to your final balance. It isn’t an additional fee.

Once you’re booked, I’ll personally connect you with our Globus sales manager, and your remaining payments will be handled through them.

Because we’re planning well in advance, you have time to spread out the cost instead of being hit with one enormous payment.

“December 2027 feels far away. Why should I book now?”

Because Christmas Cruises always sell out early and the best cabin choices will not wait until you feel emotionally prepared.

Planning early gives you more time to budget, arrange airfare, invite friends, and choose the cabin you actually want.

Panorama Suites are also the most popular category and will become harder to secure as the sailing fills.

Early booking isn’t about rushing you. It’s about giving you choices.

“Is GoNaked chartering the entire ship?”

No. We’re bringing our own curated group aboard a larger Avalon sailing. 30 of us so far.

We’ll have the fun and familiarity of traveling together while sharing the Avalon Impression with other guests.

That gives us the best of both worlds: a welcoming group to belong to without feeling trapped inside a giant organized tour every minute of the day.

“Does that mean this is a nude cruise?”

No. This is a luxury Christmas market cruise, not a clothing-optional charter.

Nobody will be expected to undress, participate in nudist activities, or explain their relationship with social nudity.

The Danube doesn’t care what you wear at home. It simply wants you to show up.

“Is this trip only for men or GoNaked members?”

Not this time. This is our first Dorothy Travel voyage, and it is open to everyone.

All genders. All backgrounds. Nudists and non-nudists. Couples, friends, and solo travelers.

Bring that fabulous female friend you’ve always wanted to travel with. Invite the married couple who keeps talking about seeing Europe. Bring your best friend who loves you dearly but has absolutely no intention of ever taking his pants off in public.

“What if I’m traveling alone?”

You won’t be alone once you join us.

One of the greatest advantages of traveling with a hosted group is that you begin the trip with people to meet, dine with, explore with, and greet at Happy Hour.

You’ll still have the freedom to enjoy time by yourself, but you won’t have to walk into every meal or excursion wondering whether you’ll know anyone.

Come solo. You’ll quickly become part of the group.

“What if I want time away from the group?”

Take it. This is your vacation, not summer camp.

Join us when you want company. Explore independently when you want space. Sit with the group at dinner, wander through a market with one new friend, or spend an afternoon following your own curiosity.

There will be opportunities to connect, but nobody will be taking attendance or blowing a whistle when it’s time to buddy up.

“Do I have to be an experienced international traveler?”

Not at all.

If you’ve never taken a European river cruise, this is a particularly comfortable way to begin. Your cabin travels with you, excursions are organized, meals are waiting onboard, and you’ll have both Avalon’s team and me helping you along the way.

Experienced travelers will appreciate the ease. First-time travelers will appreciate the support.

“What if I don’t drink?”

Then don’t.

The Christmas markets are filled with food, music, decorations, shopping, history, and atmosphere. Mulled wine may be traditional, but it is not an admission requirement.

The experience is every bit as magical with coffee, hot chocolate, tea, or a nonalcoholic holiday drink in your hands.
