A Little French Indulgence, a Little Christmas Magic—and You’re Invited

A Little French Indulgence, a Little Christmas Magic—and You’re Invited

Boys, I’ve been making plans, and they involve French wine, beautiful river views, Christmas markets, and absolutely no expectation that you’ll be the one doing the dishes.

I have two wonderful trips to share with you through Dorothy Travel, and I’ll be coming along on both. One takes us through France in the summer of 2028, with plenty of opportunities to eat, drink, explore, and make new friends. The other takes us to Germany and Austria for the Christmas markets in 2027, where we’ll put our enthusiasm for warm drinks and handsome old cities to very good use.

Yes, these adventures require clothes. (I trust you still own a few.) These are traditional river cruises welcoming men and women, so bring your partner, your favorite girlfriend, or that friend who keeps saying, “I wish I could go somewhere with you.”

France, Served Deliciously: July 18–25, 2028

Our Delicious Decadence culinary river cruise takes us from Arles to Lyon, through Provence and Burgundy, for eight days devoted to the pleasures of France. And while I’m certainly looking forward to the scenery, I think we all know I’m also going to develop strong opinions about the bread.

This trip gives us the chance to get our hands into the food as well as our forks. We’ll have two hands-on cooking classes: one in Avignon following a guided visit to Les Halles market, and another in Lyon exploring Lyonnaise cooking. Add wine tastings, olive oil, chocolate, and time to wander, and you can understand why I’m already excited.

What appeals to me just as much is the rhythm of river cruising. You settle into your cabin, unpack, and spend your days discovering what’s outside. There’s time for conversation over dinner, another look around town, or simply sitting with a drink and enjoying the fact that nobody needs you to accomplish anything terribly important.

And for my GoNaked guys who would appreciate a little bare time before boarding, I’m also working on pre-trip possibilities around Cap d’Agde. Those details are still taking shape, but you know I wasn’t going to overlook that opportunity.

Yes, July 2028 is a way off. That gives you time to plan, budget, and put something delicious on the calendar. Anticipation deserves a place in your life, too.

Join us in 2027 on our German Winter Market River Cruise!

Christmas with Better Scenery: December 1–7, 2027

Before we head to France, join me aboard the Avalon Impression for our Christmas Market River Cruise, traveling from Nuremberg, Germany, to Vienna, Austria, with visits to Regensburg, Passau, and Melk along the way.

Imagine wandering among wooden market stalls, choosing an ornament you’ll bring out every December, and warming your hands around a mug of Glühwein while deciding whether you have room for gingerbread. Then it’s back to the ship for dinner, conversation, and a comfortable place to watch the evening unfold. With onboard meals, wine and beer at lunch and dinner, evening Happy Hour, and included excursions, there’s plenty to enjoy.

I love the idea of sharing that with you: discovering a town together, comparing our purchases over a drink, and gradually turning a group of fellow travelers into familiar faces we’re happy to see at breakfast.

The website currently lists just 18 cabins remaining, so take a look soon if Christmas on the Danube sounds like your kind of holiday.

Whether you’re drawn to a summer afternoon in France or a December evening under the Christmas lights, I’d love to have you along. Come with someone you love, invite someone who needs an adventure, or come on your own and let me make the introductions.

Just save me a seat. Preferably within reach of the bread.
