Mexico's Naturist Community Makes a Bold Statement During Día al Desnudo
More than 1,000 naturists gathered across Mexico for the 2026 Día al Desnudo celebration, showcasing a growing movement centered on body acceptance, wellness, and respectful social nudity.
Mexico's naturist movement reached a new milestone this year as more than 1,000 people gathered for the 2026 Día al Desnudo celebrations, a nationwide event promoting body acceptance, social nudity, and community.
The festivities centered around May 30 in Mexico City, where participants assembled outside the iconic Auditorio Nacional before posing for a group photograph. From there, they walked together to Parque de la Amistad México-Azerbaiyán in a peaceful march that drew curious looks, smiles, and respectful reactions from onlookers.
Rather than creating controversy, the event highlighted a growing movement built on confidence, respect, and acceptance of the human body.
Although Mexico has long been home to naturist destinations such as Zipolite, the country's only officially recognized nude beach, Día al Desnudo is a much newer tradition. The movement began in Guadalajara in 2022 as a public campaign encouraging positive body image and helping normalize social nudity. A year later, the celebration expanded to Mexico City and has continued growing each year.
This year's program extended far beyond the public march. Participants enjoyed nude yoga, wellness workshops, breathing exercises, massage sessions, sauna and ice baths, photography, social gatherings, and educational activities. Many events took place at dedicated naturist spaces, including Desnudo Café in Guadalajara, a unique nude café and restaurant.
One of the most striking aspects of the celebration was the diversity of those attending. Experienced naturists mingled with first-time visitors. Young adults, retirees, couples, photographers, wellness professionals, and curious newcomers all shared the same spaces. What began as individuals arriving from different organizations quickly became one united community.
That sense of cooperation has become one of Día al Desnudo's defining characteristics. Instead of belonging to a single organization, the event brings together numerous naturist groups from across Mexico. Communities including NudistasMx, NudTopía, Chaknüul, PoliNudismo, Forza High Sports & Nude Wellness, Colores Nudistas, Grupo Alfa, and many others work together to organize activities and promote naturism as a healthy, respectful lifestyle.
The movement has also benefited from the efforts of organizers and advocates including Héctor Martínez, Mon Picazo, Fabiola Silva, Raúl Ruiz, and many dedicated volunteers who continue to strengthen naturism's public presence throughout the country.
For many participants, Día al Desnudo is about much more than spending a day without clothes. It offers an opportunity to build friendships, exchange ideas, improve self-confidence, and experience naturism in an environment focused on inclusion and mutual respect.
As attendance continues to grow each year, Día al Desnudo reflects a naturist community that is becoming more visible, more connected, and increasingly comfortable sharing its message of body acceptance with the wider public.
