Christmas on the Danube December 1–7, 2027
There are some trips you take because they're convenient.
And then there are the ones you'll still be talking about twenty years from now.
This is one of those.
Next December 2027, I'm inviting you to join me for seven unforgettable days drifting along the Danube as Europe slips into its most magical season. The air smells of roasted chestnuts and cinnamon. Cathedral bells echo through medieval streets. Choirs sing beneath twinkling lights. Every village feels as though it was built for Christmas.
We'll sail from Nuremberg to Vienna, waking each morning to a new storybook town while our floating boutique hotel quietly carries us there overnight.
No airports. No packing and unpacking. No rushing.
Just the gentle rhythm of the river... and the feeling that you've wandered into another world.

"What if I don't know anyone?"
I hear this one all the time, especially from people who are thinking about traveling solo.
Here's the secret: you won't be walking into a group of strangers.
Several months before we ever set foot in Germany, I'll create a private WhatsApp group exclusively for our travelers. That's where the friendships begin. You'll swap travel tips, share your excitement, ask questions, post countdown photos, and slowly start recognizing the names and personalities of the people you'll be traveling with.
By the time we gather in Nuremberg, something wonderful happens. It doesn't feel like you're meeting strangers. It feels like you're finally hugging old friends you've somehow known for years. You'll recognize their smiles across the hotel lobby. You'll hear familiar voices at breakfast. And when someone wraps you in that first welcome hug, it won't feel awkward. It'll feel like coming home.
"I'd love to go... but I'm traveling alone."
Then you're in very good company.
Many of our travelers join us solo, and quite a few of them leave with friendships that last far beyond the trip itself. If you'd like to share a cabin to reduce the cost, I'm happy to help match you with a compatible roommate. I don't pair people randomly. I take the time to get to know everyone's personality, travel style, sleep habits, and expectations so that, whenever possible, it feels like two friends sharing an adventure rather than two strangers sharing a room.
And if your dream vacation includes having a beautiful cabin all to yourself, that's absolutely an option too. This trip is about creating the experience that feels right for you.
"It feels like a lot of money."
I understand.
A trip like this is an investment, and I would never pretend otherwise. But it's also the kind of experience that has a way of changing how you measure value. You're not simply buying a cruise. You're buying a week where every detail has already been taken care of. Your accommodations, your meals, your excursions, your transportation between destinations, your onboard gratuities, your Wi-Fi, and countless little moments you can't put a price on are all waiting for you.
There's something else worth mentioning. Because we're booking as a group, we've secured a special rate that isn't available through most travel agencies or online booking sites. In fact, I've seen this exact sailing advertised elsewhere for as much as $5,000 more per couple than what we're paying. One of the advantages of traveling with an established group is that we can often unlock pricing that simply isn't available to the general public.
More importantly, you're giving yourself eighteen months to plan for something extraordinary. Your initial deposit is just $500, and because we're booking so far in advance, you'll have plenty of time to make comfortable payments instead of facing one overwhelming expense. It's amazing how achievable a dream becomes when you give yourself time.
"I've never done anything like this before."
Perfect.
In fact, some of my favorite travelers are the ones who were the most nervous before their first trip. You don't need to know how river cruises work. You don't need to know German. You don't need to know which Christmas markets are worth visiting or how to navigate Europe.
That's my job.
My goal is simple: I want you to spend your time soaking in the experience, not worrying about the logistics. I'll be there before you arrive, throughout the voyage, and every step of the way to answer questions, solve problems, and make sure you can focus on what matters most: being present, making memories, and falling in love with Europe at Christmas.
Your Home on the Danube
We'll be sailing aboard the Avalon Impression, one of the most beautiful ships on Europe's rivers.
Imagine drawing back your curtains each morning to reveal castles perched on misty hillsides, vineyards dusted with frost, and villages waking beneath church bells.
Nearly every cabin features Avalon’s signature wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows, bringing the river right into your room.
Days are spent wandering Christmas markets with a warm mug of mulled wine in your hands. Evenings end with four-course dinners inspired by the region, complimentary wine and beer, lively Happy Hours, and conversations that somehow always last longer than expected.
The luxury isn't flashy.
It's quiet.
It's effortless.
It's the feeling that someone else has thought of everything so you can simply be present.

Five Christmas Markets. Endless Memories.
Each stop feels different.
Nuremberg glows with centuries of tradition.
Regensburg feels untouched by time.
Passau sparkles where three rivers meet.
Melk Abbey rises above the Danube like something from a dream.
And then there's Vienna... elegant, timeless, and wrapped in Christmas lights that make you want to slow down just a little longer.
You'll wander cobblestone streets beneath thousands of lights, discover handcrafted treasures you'll never find back home, sip hot chocolate or mulled wine while snowflakes drift overhead, and find yourself smiling for absolutely no reason at all.
These aren't just markets.
They're moments.
The kind that quietly become part of you.

The Suites Are Waiting...
Most of our group will be staying in Avalon’s spectacular Panorama Suites, and for good reason. They're spacious, beautifully designed, and those panoramic windows transform the river into living artwork.
If you're someone who believes the journey should be every bit as extraordinary as the destination, this is your chance.
More room.
More elegance.
Sometimes it's worth saying yes to the version of yourself who has waited long enough.

A Different Kind of Journey
This voyage marks something special.
This voyage marks the beginning of something special: the very first Dorothy Travel adventure. Many of you know me through GoNaked, but this journey was designed to open the doors a little wider. It welcomes everyone, whether you arrive with your spouse, your sister, your lifelong best friend, or that wonderful couple who has been talking about visiting Europe for years but has never quite made it happen. You may even decide that this is the trip you have spent far too long promising yourself you would take “someday.”
Dorothy Travel is not about labels. It is about curiosity, connection, and the pleasure of experiencing beautiful places with interesting people. It is about lingering over dinner long after the plates have been cleared, laughing until your face hurts, and realizing that the people who were strangers at the beginning of the week no longer feel like strangers at all. This is travel as I believe it should be: warm, elegant, relaxed, intelligent, and deeply human.
If you have traveled with me before, you already understand that the destination is only part of the story. The castles, Christmas markets, and candlelit streets will be extraordinary, but the moments you remember most may be quieter ones: an unexpected conversation over wine, a private joke that follows the group from city to city, or the unmistakable feeling that you are exactly where you are supposed to be.
And if you have never traveled with me before, I would love for this to be the journey that changes that. Christmas has a beautiful way of reminding us that a meaningful life is not measured by what we accumulate, but by the experiences that make us feel awake, connected, and wonderfully alive. Sharing those moments with you as we drift along the Danube would mean more to me than I can adequately put into words.
